A Trump-linked bitcoin miner used fair-value accounting gains to swing back into the black. American Bitcoin quarterly profit came in near $126 million for the third quarter of 2026 after a second-quarter loss of about $57.2 million.

What happened

American Bitcoin's own results release put adjusted EBITDA near $221 million, mining revenue at about $63.4 million, bitcoin mined near 891, and cost per bitcoin around $42,100. Holdings rose to roughly 8,427 BTC from about 8,002, hashprice-related SPS was up about 5%, and the fleet stood near 89,242 miners producing about 28.1 EH/s.

CoinDesk confirmed the $126 million profit, citing a $197.3 million digital-asset accounting gain, revenue of $63.4 million versus a Street figure near $74 million, and EPS of $1.73 against roughly 26 cents expected. Cost per bitcoin rose to $42,100 from $36,500, while gross margin slipped to 41% from 49%.

Why it matters

Miner earnings remain a leveraged read on bitcoin spot and on how digital-asset fair-value rules flow through the P&L. Our bitcoin short squeeze 80k coverage captured the prior rebound above $80,000; American Bitcoin quarterly profit shows how quickly that mark-to-market channel can dominate mining revenue alone.

Cost inflation still bites. Rising cost per bitcoin and a thinner gross margin mean the operating engine is less forgiving if spot revisits the mid-$70,000s seen in Thursday's rout.

Listed-miner beta also transmits equity stress into crypto credit narratives. Coverage of the Riot Corsicana AI lease underlined how miners are diversifying into AI power deals; American Bitcoin's print keeps pure bitcoin treasury and mining economics in focus instead.

The EPS beat versus a 26-cent consensus was large enough to dominate headlines even as revenue missed the roughly $74 million Street number, a split that will keep analysts debating accounting gains versus cash mining margins.

Investors will still separate the $197.3 million digital-asset accounting gain from the $63.4 million mining revenue line before declaring the turnaround durable. A quarter that beats on EPS while missing revenue consensus is classic for fair-value-sensitive miners, and Thursday's spot slide toward the mid-$75,000s immediately tests how much of that gain could reverse. Hashrate near 28.1 EH/s and a fleet of roughly 89,242 miners also keep operating leverage high if power costs rise into winter. Peer comparisons against AI-hosting pivots will intensify on the next earnings round as capital allocators decide which miner balance sheets still look like pure bitcoin beta.

What's next

Watch whether holdings stay near 8,427 BTC into year-end and how cost per bitcoin trends if power prices rise. American Bitcoin's Q3 2026 results release is the primary source for the American Bitcoin quarterly profit figures.

A follow-through quarter without a similarly large fair-value gain would test whether mining EBITDA alone can keep the equity story intact.

Fleet utilization near 28.1 EH/s will also be watched against peers that are reallocating megawatts toward AI hosting contracts.
