Bitcoin democratic sweep dip briefly hits $75,700
A bitcoin democratic sweep dip briefly pushed the largest cryptocurrency near $75,700 in Asia as early midterm results and Democratic sweep bets rattled risk assets.

Early midterm returns and Democratic sweep pricing hit crypto overnight. A bitcoin democratic sweep dip briefly sent bitcoin near $75,700 in Asia after it had climbed toward $78,000 late Tuesday, then recovered toward about $76,700 as traders digested futures and yield moves.
What happened
CoinDesk reported that bitcoin briefly sank to about $75,700 before trading near $76,700 in the Asia morning, a drop of more than $2,000 from late-Tuesday levels near $78,000. Zcash rose about 5% toward roughly $1,200, while XRP sat near $1.27, ether around $2,260, Solana just under $92 and BNB near $689.
Equity futures told the same risk-off story. CoinDesk cited S&P 500 futures down about 1.3% and Nasdaq 100 futures down about 2.3%, with the 10-year Treasury yield off about 6 basis points to 4.90%. Reuters, via MarketScreener, put S&P futures near minus 1.2%, Nasdaq futures down more than 2%, the 10-year near 4.906% and the dollar index about 0.37% lower at 101.34, while noting more than $1.48 billion wagered on midterms on prediction markets.
BTSE chief operating officer Jeff Mei told CoinDesk that Democrats oppose the CLARITY Act, framing the selloff as a regulatory-risk repricing rather than a single exchange scare. The Nikkei fell about 3% and South Korea's Kospi about 1.6% in the same Asia session, MarketScreener reported.
Asia equity indexes confirmed the same de-risking impulse MarketScreener flagged, with Japanese and Korean benchmarks weaker after the holiday-interrupted session and prediction-market midterm volume already above $1.48 billion before U.S. cash equities reopened.
Why it matters
The print matters because spot bitcoin again traded like a high-beta tech sleeve once election odds shifted. Our bitcoin chip rout coverage already showed how semiconductor stress can drag BTC irrespective of hack headlines; a Democratic sweep narrative simply swapped the catalyst.
Prediction-market volume also amplified the move. Our Election Day midterm odds piece tracked chamber contracts leaning Democratic into the vote; overnight futures and the bitcoin democratic sweep dip show how quickly those odds transmit into crypto and Nasdaq beta.
Yields and the dollar softened alongside equities, a mix that sometimes cushions bitcoin. This session it did not — a reminder that political regulation risk can outweigh a softer rates backdrop for digital assets in the first hours after polls.
For crypto desks the practical question is correlation regime: if bitcoin keeps trading as a Nasdaq proxy into midterm certification, any further Democratic oversight rhetoric can matter more than soft yields or a weaker dollar for the next few sessions.
What's next
Watch whether $75,700 holds as a November low or whether U.S. cash equities reopen another leg lower. CoinDesk's Asia wrap is the primary tape for the $75,700 print and altcoin moves.
A deeper bitcoin democratic sweep dip toward the mid-$70,000s would keep altcoins such as SOL and BNB under pressure if Nasdaq futures stay soft.
Final House and Senate certifications may still lag; markets will keep pricing regulation risk until those calls harden.
The call
We say Bitcoin will trade at or below $75,000 on Binance BTC/USDT at some point in November 2026. Polymarket priced Yes at 73% at 08:25 MSK on Nov. 4 on the November $75k dip contract. Spot already printed near $75,700 in Asia, so the open question is whether that wick becomes a sustained November low rather than a one-touch spike.
