Kalshi 76ers partnership makes Philadelphia the first NBA team deal
The Philadelphia 76ers named Kalshi their official prediction market partner in a multiyear deal, the first team-level agreement in the NBA.

The league-wide door opened last week; now a team has walked through it. The Kalshi 76ers partnership, announced on Friday, makes Philadelphia the first NBA franchise to sign an official prediction market partner, only days after the league itself struck agreements with Kalshi and Polymarket.
What happened
The multiyear deal gives Kalshi in-arena visibility plus integrations across the Sixers app, mobile ticketing and other team-owned digital channels, Sports Business Journal reported. Financial terms were not disclosed, Covers said.
The fan-facing pieces are designed to look more like sponsorship than betting promotion. Kalshi will run a Sixers Posters series featuring Philadelphia artists and a game called Beat the Pro that ends with an on-court contest for $76,000, PhillyVoice reported. For Friday night's home game against the Knicks, Kalshi agreed to cover SEPTA rides on the Broad Street Line from the stadium complex.
Sixers revenue chief Owen Morin said Kalshi's new league-wide relationship created an opening for a first-of-its-kind team partnership built on content and engagement.
Why it matters
Teams are a more local, more visible channel than league deals. The agreement lands as states push back hard: New York and others have sued over sports event contracts, New Jersey sought a Supreme Court ruling last month, and Utah has filed criminal charges against Kalshi's founders. FanDuel and DraftKings pulled sports, politics and novelty markets in Utah by Friday, Covers reported, and Fanatics plans to exit on November 4.
Commercial momentum is still building. Prediction markets logged more than $14 billion of notional volume across the weekend of October 24 and 25, with Kalshi alone handling more than $10 billion, according to Aldrin Research figures cited by Covers. For Kalshi, the deal adds to a busy week. The company announced a $1 billion funding round at a $40 billion valuation on Thursday, PhillyVoice noted, and says it wants to grow beyond sports and election contracts into a multi-asset trading platform. The Kalshi 76ers partnership gives it a local showcase in a big East Coast sports market while legal fights continue elsewhere, and it hands rivals a benchmark for what a team-level agreement can include beyond logos.
What's next
Expect other franchises to follow if the Sixers' activation goes smoothly and regulators stay on the sidelines. PhillyVoice has the team's announcement details.
Integrity rules are the swing factor. Critics worry about links between teams, players and markets, and the Kalshi 76ers partnership will be watched as a template for how clubs keep sponsorship separate from sensitive information.
Player endorsements add complexity. LeBron James' reported $15 million-a-year Polymarket deal shows athletes are signing too, which keeps conflict-of-interest questions in the headlines all season.
